Today, one of our unofficial Bluehost community member tried installing WordPress on his newly purchased Bluehost account & he got this error saying: “Something went wrong. Click on the dropdown to get more information”
When he clicked on the view details, he saw this message:
“Failed to run the installation on your server”
He re-tried WordPress installation few times but everytime he got the same error. It was devastating & finally he contacted BHusers team to help him fix the issue. Here is how I fixed the issue & hopefully it would help you or anyone who is getting issues installing WordPress on Bluehost or any other cPanel hosting.
Solution: Failed to run the installation on your server
This issue is most likely caused by failed attempt to install the WordPress. After first failed attempt, when we try to install WordPress, it doesn’t work as the root directory is not empty. Here are few solutions for fixing it & if in doubt, feel free to ask questions.
Uninstall previous installation: (Careful as this is for those who are setting up WordPress for the first time)
Head over to Mojo marketplace install & if you see the installation has been done, simply click on uninstall to remove it. Here is the direct link to see your installs.
If you don’t see any install or once you have successfully uninstalled WordPress, head over to your Bluehost cPanel & click on filemanager.
On the next page, click on Public_html & on the right pane, click on select all & then click on delete to remove all files & folders created in our earlier failed installation. (Refer to below screenshot )
That’s it! Now, you need to go back to your Bluehost cPanel & start the process of WordPress installation. You can refer to this guide for better understanding.
If you are afraid or scared to make the changes as suggested above, just ask yourself this question: Will I lose anything? Since your website is not live & even if you made mistakes at the time of installation, Bluehost customer support will fix it for you. Do remember this may take time, but trying to fix yourself is fun.

This did not work for me. I went through all of the steps listed and still received the same error message.
I had the same problem, I tried the solution outlined above but kept getting the same error message, although I could access the admin panel for my failed install, there were multiple duplicate sample pages and comment postings suggesting that something wrong did happen with the install (I don't know if it is due to MOJO Marketplace having a problem with Version 4.5.1 of wordpress or not as I have had no prior issues with previous wordpress installs using MOJO Marketplace)
The way I managed to get a clean install was:
1. Deleting the wordpress files in the Public_html folder through FileZilla (as not all of them appeared in the Cpanel file manager pane for me for whatever reason)
2. Installing wordpress through the New Install tab in the WordPress tools menu
This seems to have gotten me a clean install with none of the duplication errors or install errors mentioned above.

I have similar problem with Bluehost + wordpress.
I have domain + hosting through Bluehost. I tried installing wordpress. but it shows this message:
"We noticed the domain you are installing at is not set up yet with your hosting provider"
After this the installation shows success, but it fails to load the main url or the wp-admin page.
Can you guid me?
