How to Install WordPress on Bluehost

So I assume you have your Bluehost login details with you. Go to Bluehost.com, click on Account Login and use your credentials to login to your Bluehost cPanel. Once you are inside your Bluehost Panel, click on cPanel at the top, and on next page select WordPress under Website builder. (See below image for better understanding).

Earlier, Bluehost used to offer Fantastico script to install WordPress, but in 2013 they shifted to Mojo marketplace script for installing WordPress.

This new script made installing WordPress on Bluehost very easy, and below famous, the 5-minute guide will help you have your WordPress blog up in no-time.

On the next page, you will see details about WordPress script and simply click on “Start” to install WordPress.

On the next page, you need to select domain where you want your WordPress blog to be installed.  Here you can select few things which I will explain:

• You can install WordPress on your domain without www or with www: (Ex: domain.com, www.domain.com) : I prefer stripping off www, as this will keep my domain name short, and will make sharing easier on social sites like Twitter. Moreover, these days www in the domain name doesn’t serve any purpose.
• Under sub-directory: If you wish to install your blog under a subdirectory (Ex: domain.com/blog), here you can add a blog in the same field. Though, most of the smart users these days, use a static page as homepage, and keep blog under a separate page, instead of installing it on sub-directory.  I’m not getting into detail about this, but you can refer to this codex page for complete detail.

So, here is my next WordPress installation page on Bluehost Mojo script installer looks like:

Check the option which says “OOPS! It looks like something already exists there! I understand that continuing will overwrite the files.”, and it will bring you to next screen which will look like this:

I have selected the advanced option and made some changes. Here are some notable changes:

• Sitename: Set the site name you want to use. For example, here at this site, I use Tax Paisa.
• Admin Username: Keep it something other than admin. (Admin is common, and can be used for brute force attack).
• Pass: Keep a complex password.
• Admin Email address: Use your Email address

That’s it, and now select the Terms and condition box, and click on Install now. It will take around 30-60 seconds for this script to install your WordPress blog, and it will be displayed on the same screen. Once done, you will see the success message on the screen. Use the login, and login to your newly installed WordPress blog, and start making changes.
